20-20 Technologies is Delivering the Industry Platform

It wasn’t many years ago that office furniture manufacturers and dealers grappled with a confusing array of software and data platforms. Small software companies each catered to their particular communities and none had enough users to thrive and fund significant development. There was little consistency for dealers or manufacturers.

20-20 Technologies brought together the industry’s best products and people and has invested to integrate the portfolio. For example, the best features of several specification programs were consolidated and today 20-20 Worksheet is the companion for Office Sales, Giza Studio and CAP Studio. Worksheet is thriving and has advanced steadily with improvements such as Product Preview and the upcoming Option Preview.

20-20 has also consolidated software and data among space planning tools. With the retirement of Design Express at the end of 2008, 20-20 will have standardized on a single AutoCAD-based design tool. Along the way CAP Studio users old and new have seen the addition of powerful features inspired by those other tools such as the upcoming Associated Worksheets feature in the 2009 version of CAP Studio.

This is all possible because of a long-held core principle that 20-20’s dealer customers need a consistent way to sell products from many manufacturers. Features are implemented with every dealer community in mind and are therefore flexible enough to accommodate varying practices. 20-20 hears dealers asking for software that handles all of the product lines they sell, not just one or two.

Why does this consolidation matter? More users channeling feedback and investment into a platform yields stability and a steady stream of new features. Fewer data formats and approaches to automation mean that manufacturers can focus their data enhancement efforts. A stable software vendor with diversity across industries and geographies won’t disappear and leave users stranded. And it’s certainly easier to hire people who already know your software.

The future holds more investment to further improve and consolidate. 20-20’s software solutions now extend into the factory and move the industry toward a single Product Data Pool where one instance of data drives both Manufacturing and Point of Sale. No other company has the vision or resources to bring this about.
